This year’s top rider in the PBR is none other than Brazilian Silvano Alves.
Unable to speak English, he always has a translator, or else has some of his other Brazilian buddies translate for him.
But what he lacks in linguistic skills, he makes up for in bull riding skills.
For the first four rounds of the World Finals, Silvano was quiet. In fact, even though he had ridden 3/4 bulls, he didn’t even earn any money.
But he ended his season with a bang when he rode Yellow Jacket Jr. for 92.50 points in the final round.
But he’s consistent, calm, cool and collected.

Let’s take a look back at his performance this year:
He went to 30 events.
Out of 100 outs, he rode 69 of his bulls for a ride percent of 69%.
25% of the time, he got scores of 45+ points.
He won 3 events.
He had 14 top 5 event finishes.
He had 18 top 10 event finishes.
He had 3 90 point rides.
His longest consecutive ride streak was 9 rides.
He ended the year with 12782.50 points and earned $1,529,450.68.

World – 10/30/2011 – Yellow Jacket Jr. for 92.25 points.

There are several really impressive rides in this mix.
For one, it’s clear to see that Silvano’s go-to bull is Perfect Poison (Circle T Ranch and Rodeo).
He rode the bull 6/6 times that he attempted to ride him, with an average score on him of 87.42 points – that’s just smart picking.
He also rode the legendary Big Tex, although it was only for 84.75 points. Big Tex probably needs to be retired…he’s been around for a LONG time.
He rode Big Iron, the #1 bull in the PRCA for 88.25 points at the World Finals.
And he rode Yellow Jacket Jr., one of the rankest bulls in the PBR, for 92.25 points. That was his last ride of the year – a 92.25 point ride on a legendary bull.
That’s pretty damn impressive.
