Round 3 is the first time that the world contender bulls will buck at the World Finals. In short…the big boys come out. Here’s the draw, some stats, and if I think they’ll ride.

Ryan Dirteater vs. Highway 12 – Jeff Robinson
2011 – 88.24% buck off         avg. score 90.5
Career – 88.46% buck off
Meetings: Chicago ’11 – Bucked Off – 5.62 seconds – 44.25 bull score
I think that Dirteater will ride. Highway 12 is a great bull. He’s not too rank, and he produces big scores. Dirteater is a determined young man and I’m pulling for him.

Aaron Roy vs. Braveheart – Judd Leffew/D Bar M
2011 – 83.33% buck off        avg. score 88.42
Career – 86.36% buck off
Meetings: Never met
I don’t think that Roy will ride. Braveheart is explosive with his first jump and I think that Roy will get leaned back and bucked off.

Douglas Duncan vs. RMEF Gunpowder & Lead – Jeff Robinson
2011 – 28.57% buck off        avg. score 90.1
Career – 52.94% buck off
Meetings: Never met
Duncan rode his bull, Over the Edge, in round 2 for 88.25. Duncan is really one of those really great or really awful riders. But Gunpowder & Lead is one of the best bulls in this round in terms of rideability and point producing. He should be able to ride him and might even get the round win.

Mike Lee vs. Jawbreaker – Prorodeo Inc./Terry Walls
2011 – 100% buck off
Career – 100% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Lee rode his bull, Who Dat, in round 2 for 88.25 points. However, his past performances haven’t been that great. Plus, Jawbreaker is a RANK bull. He knocked the bejeezus out of J.B. Mauney. Lee isn’t going to ride him.

Kody Lostroh vs. Gray Squirrel – New Frontier Rodeo
2011 – 92.86% buck off        avg. score 85.00
Career – 96.00% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Lostroh rode Too Sexy in Round 2 for 87.50 points. However, Too Sexy isn’t one of the rankest bulls. Looking at Gray Squirrel’s stats…if Lostroh can harness his riding ability…he should be able to ride him…but he’s a very inconsistent rider as well.

Cody Nance vs. Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey (Immigrant) – Circle T Ranch & Rodeo
2011 – 85.71% buck off        avg. score 91.25
Career – 88.89% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Nance hasn’t ridden anything in the finals yet. His previous performances haven’t been up to par. He probably won’t ride.

Jordan Hupp vs. RFD – HD – Teague Bucking Bulls LLC
2011 – 100% buck off
Career – 100% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Hupp hasn’t ridden anything so far. And with RFD-HD’s stats…that streak is going to continue.

Paulo Lima vs. Blue Emu’s After the Pain (Hank) – Jeff Robinson/LGC
2011 – 93.75% buck off       avg. score 86.93
Career – 76.09% buck off
Meetings: Nashville ’10 – Bucked Off – 1.50 seconds – 44.75 bull score – during his bad season – 62.5% buck off rate
This is one of my favorite bulls. He’s really gotten so much better in the past year. Lima hasn’t ridden anything and I don’t think he’ll be any match for Hank.

Sean Willingham vs. Yellow Jacket Jr. – Dakota Rodeo/Berger/Struve/Rosen
2011 – 94.12% buck off        avg. score 43.66
Career – 84.62% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Willingham rode Priceless for 89.75 points in round 2. However, he’s REALLY one of the most INCONSISTENT riders in the PBR. If he’s good…he’s really good…but he’ll go into these really long slumps where he can’t cover anything. And Yellow Jacket Jr., son of the great late Little Yellow Jacket, is going to be too much bull for him.

Chris Shivers vs. BigTexTrailers.com (Moon) – Jeff Robinson/Gene Baker
2011 – 87.5% buck off                       avg. score 86.67
Career – 88.89% buck off
Meetings: Wichita ’11 – Bucked Off – 7.80 seconds – 44.50 bull score – The last time he was bucked
Shivers recently faced this bull in Wichita. He almost got him rode…he was .20 seconds short. He rode Cooper Tire’s Wild & Out in Round 2 for 88.25 points. He’s a multiple world champion, and I think he’ll cover this bull.

Pistol Robinson vs. Shepherd Hills Trapper – Circle T Ranch & Rodeo
2011 – 90.48% buck off        avg. score 86.8
Career – 86.11% buck off
Meetings: Wichita ’11 – Bucked Off – 2.33 seconds – 45.50 bull score
Pistol hasn’t covered anything in the finals yet…and hasn’t covered anything in a while. He met the bull recently and got bucked off in 2.33 seconds. He’s not going to ride this bull.

Caleb Sanderson vs. Say When – Tino Martinez/Pat Hooper/Casey Richards
2011 – 100% buck off                       avg. score 86.70
Career – 92.65% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Caleb is one of only 5 riders to have covered both bulls so far in the finals. He won round 1 with a 88.50 point ride on Vitalix White Velvet and covered Big Iron for 87.50 points in round 2. I think he’s talented enough and confident enough to ride this bull, even though he hasn’t been ridden yet this year.

Colby Yates vs. Movin’ On – Jeff Robinson
2011 – 80.00% buck off         avg. score 88.67
Career – 75.00% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Yates’ riding has been awful lately. I don’t think he’ll ride this bull.

Stormy Wing vs. Backdraft – Lufkin Ranch & Rodeo
2011 – 100% buck off
Career – 100% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Wing rode Slim’s Ghost for 79.50 points in round 2, but he won’t be able to ride this bull.

Renato Nunes vs. PFI’s Boot Daddy – Jane Clark/Gene Owen/Showsports
2011 – 42.86% buck off       avg. score 85.05
Career – 64.29% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Nunes SHOULD be able to ride this bull. He’s been ridden more than half the times that he’s had outs this year.

Reese Cates vs. White Magic – Diamond G Rodeos
2011 – 85.71% buck off         avg. score 88.55
Career – 91.67% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
White Magic is a legendary bull. He’s been around for a LONG time, and has had 4 scores of 48.00 points in his career. Cates is too young and too inexperienced to ride this bull. Plus, he hasn’t even posted a score yet at the finals.

Douglas Ferreira vs. Smackdown – Dakota Rodeo/Berger/Struve/Rosen
2011 – 90.00% buck off        avg. score 89.92
Career – 87.5% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Smackdown is a world contender bull. Ferreira hasn’t covered anything at the finals yet, and it’s not about to start with this bull.

Rubens Barbosa vs. Gas Tank – Wild Hogs/Jeff Robinson
2011 – 100% buck off
Career – 100% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Barbosa is in 1st place for the running for Rookie of the Year. He’s covered both of his bulls at the finals so far with a 85.25 point score on Jeffery Scott’s Titanium Tough in round 1 and a 2nd place finish on Cowboy Casanova with a score of 90.75. Even though this bull hasn’t been ridden yet, Barbosa is at an all-time high and will probably get the job done.

Elton Cide vs. Prator’s Pride – JD Nix Rodeo Co./T4DT
2011 – 81.82% buck off        avg. score 80.25
Career – 81.82% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Cide has kind of fallen off of the map lately. Even though he should be able to ride this bull…I’m not too confident that he will.

Brendon Clark vs. Slash – Tumbling Dice/Nanson Vold
2011 – 100% buck off                       avg. score 84.88
Career – 93.75% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Clark rode Filmore Heat for 85.00 points in round 2. The Australian probably won’t ride this bull…his stats are just too impressive.

Wesley Lourneco vs. Hell’s Bells – K-C Bucking Bulls/Folds/Strickland Bucking Bulls
2011 – 100% buck off
Career – 100% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Lourenco is back in competition after a very long hiatus due to injuries. I don’t think he’s been on enough bulls lately to conquer Hell’s Bells.

Pete Farley vs. Rock & Roll – Bad Company Rodeo Inc./Cody Ohl
2011 – 100% buck off
Career – 100% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Farley covered Cool Spot in Round 2 with a score of 87.25 points. He always seems to be in the top 10 or so…but he never does anything spectacular to set himself out from the crowd. That being said, I don’t think that he’ll ride Rock & Roll.

Harve Stewart vs. Asteroid – Circle T Ranch & Rodeo
2011 – 87.50% buck off         avg. score 81.5%
Career – 88.89% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Asteroid and Bushwacker are neck and neck for the title of Bucking Bull of the Year. At his last out in Springfield, he bucked Pistol Robinson off in an impressive 0.93 seconds and got a score of 46.50 points. Stewart rode Shaky Waters for 86.00 points in Round 1, but he’s nowhere near ready to conquer the bull that people are calling “the next Bones.”

Cody McCoy vs. Bushwacker – Julio Moreno/Richard Oliveira
2011 – 100% buck off                       avg. score 88.88
Career – 95.35% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
This, to me, is comical. It might be because Bushwacker is my freaking hero – I have a picture of him on my wall in my room. It might be because no one has ridden him in 2 years. It might be because all of the top riders in the world who have tried to ride him have failed miserably. It might be because my favorite rider, J.B. Mauney, has gotten on him 5 times and has failed to ride him even once. He’s bucked off every one of the top 3 riders in the PBR in less than 3.10 seconds, and bucked off the number one rider in the world, Silvano Alves, in 2.00 seconds flat. McCoy fails to cover top-level bulls on a regular basis. This is a joke…right?

Elliot Jacoby vs. Spit Fire – Boyd/Floyd
2011 – 80.00% buck off
Career – 86.08% buck off
Meetings: Pueblo ’09 – Bucked Off – 3.80 seconds – 46.00 bull score
Jacoby hasn’t covered anything yet at the world finals, and I don’t think it’s going to start with Spitfire, but he may surprise us.

Cody Campbell vs. Bad Medicine – Teague Bucking Bulls LLC
2011 – 70.59% buck off         avg. 88.00
Career – 78.13% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Campbell should be able to cover this bull, as he’s one of the lesser rank bulls in the pen.

Justin Koon vs. Perfect Poison – Boyd/Floyd
2011 – 100% buck off
Career – 88.89% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Koon covered Deja Blue Emu in Round 2 for 85.00 points. But Deja Blue is getting older. Perfect Poison is still young and hasn’t been ridden yet this year. Koon might surprise us…but I doubt it.

Tyler Thomson vs. DEWALT Guaranteed Tough (Ranger Red) – #10 Bucking Bulls/Jeff Robinson
2011 – 88.89% buck off         avg. score 80.75
Career – 94.12% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
I don’t know much about this guy, but looking at this bull’s stats…it’s unlikely.

Ben Jones vs. Double Clutch – Trevor Walker Bucking Stock
2011 – 77.78% buck off         avg. score 82.44
Career – 85.19% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Jones should be able to ride this bull if he doesn’t over-think his riding. That’s been his downfall lately. He’s one of my favorite riders. I don’t know anything about this bull, but I have faith that Ben will cover him after his 86.25 point ride on Gypsy Boots.

Luke Snyder vs. Palm Springs – Diamond S Bucking Bulls
2011 – 88.89% buck off
Career – 85.37% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Palm Springs is the Bucking Bull of the Year for 2011 in the PRCA. Snyder covered Chocolate Thunder in Round 2 for 81.75…but he’s peanuts compared to Palm Springs. I saw this bull buck at the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo in Colorado Springs…and he got a score of 48.00. Wesley Silcox got a score of 94.00 on him in Cheyenne last year, and Ardie Maier earned a 92.00 point ride on him in San Antonio this year. PRCA riders RARELY get 90 point rides, let alone 92 or 94 point rides – the judges are a lot harder on them than those in the PBR. BFTS riders have been 0-for-8 every time he’s appeared on the tour. I DOUBT DOUBT DOUBT that Snyder will ride him.

Ryan McConnel vs. Stinger – Craig Wagoner Bucking Bulls
2011 – 100% buck off
Career – 75.00% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
With McConnel’s recent performances…he’s not going to cover this bull.

Shane Proctor vs. King Lopez – K-C Bucking Bulls
2011 – 81.82% buck off        avg. score 87.83
Career – 84.21% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Proctor is the number one bull rider in the PRCA standings right now, but he continues to struggle on the BFTS. He has the talent to ride this bull, but it’s iffy if he will or not.

J.B. Mauney vs. Springtime – Adobe Wells Ranch
2011 – 100% buck off                       avg. score 85.00
Career – 92.31% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
J.B. Oh, J.B. My all-time favorite rider. The first man to ever cover all 6 of his bulls at the world finals. And the hottest man alive. This man has covered plenty of bulls that everyone said couldn’t be ridden. And he’s ridden both of his bulls at the finals so far: Sic ‘Em Sam for 87.25 points in round 1 and Chicken on a Chain for 86.00 points in round 2. I think he’ll be the first one to ride this bull this year.

LJ Jenkins vs. T-Rex – Circle T Ranch & Rodeo
2011 – 100% buck off
Career – 100% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
I saw LJ Jenkins get a 92.00 ride on Wind River at the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo to win the event. AND I got to meet him…and give him 2 hugs. All that aside, he covered Bad Moon for a 3rd place win in round 1 with a score of 87.50 points. I think that Jenkins might surprise everyone and cover this bull.

Fabiano Vieira vs. Carrillo Cartel – 4C Bucking Bulls/Sills
2011 – 76.92% buck off         avg. score 90.14
Career – 77.46% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
This bull should be a piece of cake for Vieira. Carrillo Cartel has one of the most consistent rhythms in the PBR and produces major points. Vieira covered The Situation for 86.00 points in Round 2.

Guilherme Marchi vs. Bucky – Craig Wentz Bucking Bulls
2011 – 88.89% buck off         avg. score 84.67
Career – 80.00% buck off
Meetings: Billings ’11 – Bucked Off – 5.45 seconds – 44.00 bull score
Coming back from 6 broken ribs…Marchi has already ridden both of his bulls: Mud Wasp in round 1 with a score of 86.50 points and Toy Soldier in Round 2 with a score of 88.00. There’s a reason why his name is Mr. Consistency. Marchi just has talent…that’s all there is to it. He’ll ride this bull no problem.

Austin Meier vs. Lincoln Electric’s Bring It – Dakota Rodeo/Berger/Struve/Box K Cattle Co
2011 – 88.24% buck off        avg. score 89.08
Career – 94.23% buck off
Meetings:
Pueblo ’09 – Bucked Off – 2.30 seconds – 44.00 bull score
Indianapolis ’11 – Bucked Off – 5.94 seconds – 43.25 bull score
Des Moines ’11 – Bucked Off – 4.16 seconds – 44.50 bull score
As much as I love Austin…he’s most likely not going to ride this bull if his previous encounters are anything to judge by. He covered Buzz Saw in round 1 with a score of 85.50 points…but these two have met 3 times…and the bull has won all 3 times.

Robson Palermo vs. Iron Horse – Circle T Ranch & Rodeo
2011 – 42.86% buck off        avg. score 86.83
Career – 56.67% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
Based on this bull’s stats…World #3 Palermo should be able to do this with his eyes closed. He got a 87.75 point ride on Tuxedo in Round 2.

Valdiron de Oliveira vs. Doc Holliday – Corey & Horst/Flying Diamond
2011 – 100% buck off
Career – 100% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
The #2 rider in the PBR won round 2 with a 90.75 ride on Speckled Ivory…the same bull that he won Glendale on this year with. That being said…in the past couple of weeks, he’s really been struggling to cover his bulls. But this might be his second wind. I think this could go either way.

Silvano Alves vs. Yo Yo – Cornwell Bucking Bulls/Rocking M
2011 – 87.50% buck off         avg. score 84.00
Career – 87.50% buck off
Meetings: Never Met
World #1 Silvano Alves should be able to ride this bull. The thing about Silvano is that he doesn’t always win events or even rounds…but he’s consistent. I was really surprised to see that he didn’t cover his bull in round 1, but he covered Mr. Slim for 84.00 points in round 2. He should be able to cover Yo Yo with no problems at all.

And those are my predictions. I’m heading over to my parent’s house tonight to watch the whole event on our 52″ tv…SO STOKED!
